Overview
I had the privilege of working with Aoraki Mount Cook School, a unique primary school nestled in the Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. Established in 1960, this school is the educational cornerstone for New Entrants to Year 8 students, primarily from families residing within or close to the National Park. As of the 2024 school year, it proudly serves a diverse group of 6 students representing 4 different cultures. With the construction of their new school building, they sought to rejuvenate their brand, starting with a revamped logo to match the fresh, dynamic spirit of their new environment.
The Project
The core of this project was to craft a new logo for Aoraki Mount Cook School that encapsulates the essence of its majestic location. The challenge was to blend the iconic imagery of Aoraki/Mount Cook with a playful yet sophisticated design. The final logomark is an artistic representation of the mountain, the surrounding landscape, and the starry night sky, symbolising the school's connection to its natural setting. The font chosen, Filson Pro, adds a friendly and approachable feel to the design. The colour scheme harmonises with the new school's decor, drawing inspiration from the natural hues of Aoraki itself, creating a cohesive and visually appealing identity for the school.
